I did a prefixes/suffixes try last year for a website and it was more hassle that I had originally thought. So many domains are out there but finding the right combination is key, almost like a never ending task to find the "perfect" one.
Thanks for the answer guys. It's much appreciated.
But will people remember your website by using prefixes or suffixes of popular websites? I'm thinking that people will think of the famous website instead of your own website because of the prefix or suffix.
Even suffixes from famous websites will do as long as you don't get most of the name of the popular website. The suffix "pedia" is used in many websites because they are easy to remember.
I think "wiki" is the most used prefix and "pedia" is the suffix that is commonly used. Well there goes Wikipedia!
I agree with you about the wiki things. I have ever tried to register "Wikitips.com", but it's taken already. It's for sale now. The owner is selling it for $50,000.00. Wow!
I agree with you that unique domain names are better. But what I'm thinking is that people can easily remember your website if it has something that resembles from a famous website. I have seen many websites using "wiki" as a prefix for their website and I think it will work out fine.
It is a though question. Checking domain names on a registrar, sometimes I am a bit upset as I notice that most catchy and brandable names I could imagine are taken already. But I never try to resemble other popular names. I prefer to look for another fresh and unique name, despite how hard it is to find.
With so many domain names registered in the internet, how do you create a domain name that is catchy and easy to memorize? Do you add prefixes or suffixes from websites that are already famous?
